Medical nutrition is part of cancer treatment

As a coordinator in the clinical and artificial nutrition unit at the “Policlinico” University Hospital, Rome, Dr. Muscaritoli’s main field of studies includes malnutrition, metabolism, artificial nutrition, metabolic-nutritional support in patients with solid and hematologic tumors, and home artificial nutrition.
He has published scored of papers on using nutritional therapy to better manage weight loss in people experiencing cancer cachexia and is best known for his research on the following areas: Metabolic alteration in cancer; cancer cachexia; pathogenic mechanisms of muscle wasting in cancer and other chronic diseases.
At present, Dr. Muscaritoli I the Chairman of the Italian Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (SINPE) and has ongoing research collaborations with the Department of Surgery at UP-state Medical University in New York and the Department of Experimental Medicine and Oncology at the University of Turin in Italy.
