Lowering blood pressure reduces diabetic deaths

Treating diabetics with a combination of angiotensin converting enzyme (perindopril) and duretic (indapamide) lowers blood pressure and reduces the risk of cardiovascular events, including death from diabetes complications, by 20 percent. The benefit was noted even in diabetics who have normal blood pressure.
