Preventing Illness before it has a chance to settle is the best way to remain healthy…it is to stop an illness before it has a chance to take hold on your body. This may sound easy to do but it is not quite that simple.
The main reason that we get sick is not that we are exposed to a virus or bacteria, but that our immune system is weaker than it should be. Every day we are exposed to literally thousands of bacteria that we don’t even realize we were exposed to. If your immune system is in tip top shape because you are living a healthy lifestyle, then you have a better chance to fight off any infections.
If you work too many hours, you will become tired without adequate rest. Your immune system is weakened and you become susceptible to any potential virus around. You might be trying to finish an important project for work and think that if you can just get it done, then you can rest. Unfortunately, this is when you often see people get sick.
Another factor to avoid is stress. I know we all hear about stress until we are sick about it, but it is a real factor concerning your immune system. High levels of stress will lower your immune system to fight disease just like getting inadequate rest.
Not eating a healthy diet is another factor to watch in your fight. Without the right vitamins and nutrients, you lower your body’s ability to repel diseases and viruses. Probably the worst situation is when you combine all three factors together.
Lack of rest, high stress levels and inadequate diets will almost ensure that you will get some form of disease or virus very easily. If you exercise, eat right, and practice balanced living you can avoid this problem. Some illnesses can’t be prevented, but why increase your odds with those you can avoid?
